So far this season, the Rockland boys basketball team has resembled an oversized pinata.

Everyone has lined up with their sticks, and given that Rockland pinata their best whack, but so far not much candy has been spilled out.

The only team that has successfully defeated the Bulldogs this season is Class 4A Wood River, a team that sits three levels higher than Rockland.

Since that 53-46 loss in early December, the Bulldogs have won 15 consecutive contests. And they've rarely been tested during the streak.

In fact, when you look closely at Rockand's 17-1 overall record, you'll notice that all 17 wins have come by double digits.

Their latest test was also their most difficult. The 12-1 Richfield Tigers traveled to Rockland on Wednesday night in a battle of the top two 1AD2 teams in our Idaho Boys Basketball Daily Top 25 rankings.

After a 48-32 win, Rockland remains number one in our updated rankings, while Richfield slides to #4.

It should be noted that the Tigers are currently playing without their leading scorer, Clay Kent. The Times-News reports that Kent has been out with an elbow injury.

Teague Matthews and Brandon Neal each registered double-doubles in the win. Neal led the way with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Matthews tallied 13 points and 14 boards. Brigham Permann almost became the third Bulldog to accomplish the feat, but finished just shy with ten points and seven rebounds.

Richfield, of course, is battling with fellow Top 25 foe Camas County in the Sawtooth Conference. Only one team will get to advance to state, as we detailed last week. The Mushers will travel to Rockland for the regular season finale on February 8th.
