A year ago, the Coeur d'Alene girls basketball program had their eyes set on competing for the 5A state championship.  But before those dreams could become fully realized, the Vikings suffered back-to-back losses to Lake City and Post Falls at districts, and poof! - those aspirations disappeared as Coeur d'Alene failed to qualify for the state tournament.

That painful reminder was a motivating factor all season long for a Vikings squad that finished unbeaten against Idaho opponents.  After suffering close calls with Eagle in the first round (a 63-50 win) and with Boise in the semifinals (a 51-50 triumph in double overtime), Coeur d'Alene could finally breathe a sigh of relief against Rocky Mountain in the championship game.

The Vikings raced out to leads of 19-8 after one quarter and 34-16 at halftime on their way to a 65-27 win.  The Vikings yielded single digit totals to the Grizzlies in every single quarter, and only allowed Rocky Mountain to shoot 26.5% from the floor and 16.7% from three.

Offensively, Teagan Colvin scored 20 points for Coeur d'Alene, while Madi Symons chipped in with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Rocky Mountain was led by CiCi Legaspi's ten points.
