These Whitepine League rivals squared off in a non-conference battle (Troy is still a 2A school, while Clearwater Valley petitioned down to the 1A ranks). Troy sprinted to an 11-6 lead after one quarter of play, and then the two sides were pretty much even across the second and third periods. But in the fourth, the Rams began a furious comeback, tying the contest at 46-46 with 50 seconds remaining. Troy’s Dom Holden calmly sank one-of-two free throws with 26 seconds to play, pushing Troy ahead 47-46, and the Trojans’ defense held firm from there to earn the win. Holden finished with 11 points to lead Troy (2-3). The Rams (7-3) were paced by Hyson Scott’s 20 points.
