Welcome to Baney's Basketball Breakdown, a bite-sized recap of all of the important boys and girls basketball results from the previous night of competition.
Each morning, we'll quickly highlight the results, performances and scores that you need to know about.
BOYS BASKETBALL
GAME OF THE NIGHT
Sandpoint 51, Lakeland 49
In a game that was streamed live on IdahoSports.com, the Bulldogs (1-1 Inland Empire League, 5-7 overall) received a game-winner at the buzzer from Wil Leisy to win the annual Battle of the Paddle matchup over Lakeland (1-3 IEL, 7-6 overall). With the game tied 49-49, Sandpoint had possession with seven seconds to play. A three-point shot from Emerik Jones was off-line, but Leisy grabbed the offensive rebound and scored on a 15-foot fadeaway as time expired.
PRIME-TIME PERFORMER
We’ve highlighted a lot of double-doubles in this space throughout the season. But a triple-double? That’s rarefied air. In a 60-34 win over Challis, Carey senior Preston Wood logged 14 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Panthers to the win.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
GAME OF THE NIGHT
Boise 37, Borah 31
Boise (5-2 Southern Idaho Conference, 14-3 overall) defeated their arch-rivals from Borah (6-1 SIC, 14-3 overall) for the second time this season. This victory counted towards the SIC ledger, while the first game was a non-conference battle. Boise held control for most of the contest, but Borah made things interestling late. Trailing 33-25 in the fourth quarter, Karli Hall sank back-to-back three-point shots to bring the Lions to within 33-31. A turnover on Boise’s next possesion gave the ball back to Borah with 34 seconds to play, but Hall missed a layup, Boise rebounded, and made their free throws down the stretch to pull out the victory.
PRIME-TIME PERFORMER
After setting a new career high in single-game points earlier this week with 44, Kamiah’s Emma Krogh came close to that mark again in a 66-18 win over Troy. This time, though, Krogh only finished with 38.
