BOYS BASKETBALL
GAME OF THE NIGHT
Fruitland 54, McCall-Donnelly 53
Fruitland (1-1 Snake River Valley Conference, 4-9 overall) sprinted past McCall-Donnelly (1-1 SRV, 6-7 overall) in a frantic finish to secure their first conference win of the season. Trailing by two with 18 seconds remaining, Grizzlies guard Titus Vidlak drove the length of the floor and scored on a layup to tie the contest at 53-53. A foul was called on the basket, and with nine seconds remaining, Vidlak stepped to the line and finished off the three-point play, putting Fruitland ahead, 54-53. The Grizzlies defense held firm from there. Vidlak finished with 23 points and four assists in the victory, while Konner Clarich tallied a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds. McCall-Donnelly’s Sam Penny scored 20 points in the loss.
PRIME-TIME PERFORMER
Bonners Ferry defeated Timberlake 73-28 in their annual Backwoods Brawl rivalry game in Spirit Lake. 50 of the Badgers’ 73 points came from one individual: senior Asher Williams. That’s right, Williams became the first Idaho athlete this year to score 50 points in a single game. Special shout out to point guard Brody Rice, as well. Rice dished out 20 assists!

GIRLS BASKETBALL
GAME OF THE NIGHT
Deary 31, Nezperce 29
In a game that was streamed live on IdahoSports.com, Deary (6-2 Whitepine League, 10-2 overall) trailed 27-25 entering the fourth and final quarter of play. But the Mustangs erased the deficit by outscoring Nezperce (4-4 WPL, 5-8 overall) 6-2 in the fourth period. With three seconds remaining, Deary missed a free throw, but rather than let Nezperce try and gain possession and attempt a game-tying shot, Emily Bovard instead made the heads up play of swatting the ball away from everyone and letting the clock expire. Deary was led by IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Kaylee Wood’s 17 points. Helen Wilcox scored 10 points for Nezperce.
PRIME-TIME PERFORMER
Grangeville posted another dominant victory in Central Idaho League play, defeating Priest River 69-34. Addisyn Vanderwall led the way with a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds. She also tallied five assists for good measure.
