BOYS BASKETBALL
GAME OF THE NIGHT
Madison 78, Rigby 76 (OT)
With Madison holding a 69-68 lead with just 10.2 seconds to play, Madison fans had to be feeling okay about their team’s chances to hold on and win. Rigby had just turned the ball over on an offensive foul, and as long as Madison made their free throws, a tough win would be earned. However, at the play’s conclusion, Madison’s Wayd Bailey was assessed a technical foul for slamming the ball in celebration. Isaac Sautter made one-of-two free throws for Rigby, and the game went to overtime. In OT, the Bobcats nudged ahead 76-74 with 16 seconds remaining. Rigby’s Connor Davenport was fouled on a drive to the basket, and made both foul shots with 7.9 seconds to go, tying the game at 76-76. At the other end, Madison’s Nash Humpherys wasted no time getting to the paint, drawing a foul with 3.4 seconds remaining. Humpherys made both free throws, leaving Rigby trailing 78-76. A full-court pass was intercepted by Madison, and the Bobcats students rushed the court following the dramatic win.
PRIME-TIME PERFORMER
