BOYS BASKETBALL
GAME OF THE NIGHT
Timberlake 91, Genesis Prep 83 (2OT)
Timberlake (7-7) finally pulled away from Genesis Prep (7-9) in a non-conference battle, but it took two overtime periods and a monster effort from point guard Tyler Engelson to finish the job. Engelson became the second player in Idaho to drop 50 points in the past two weeks, hitting nine three-pointers on his way to the half-century mark. Max Simpson added 22 points for the Tigers. Genesis Prep’s Spencer Farrell and Gabe Meyer each scored 18 points in the loss.
PRIME-TIME PERFORMER
Most nights, we’d go ahead and give Timberlake’s Tyler Engelson the nod after he dropped 50 points in a non-conference win over Genesis Prep. But we just outlined that performance above in our Game of the Night section, so let’s look elsewhere. Turns out we didn’t have to look far: three different players, all hailing from North Idaho, scored 40 points on Thursday night. Kootenai defeated Mullan 61-31 for its first win of the season. Senior Christopher Moore scored 40 in the victory. Then, in Whitepine League action, Logos sprinted past Kendrick 83-55. Senior guard Seamus Wilson teed off for 40 points in the win, and added six rebounds, six assists, six steals and a block. And finally, also in the 2A Whitepine League, Potlatch blitzed Troy 71-48 behind 40 points from Everett Lovell.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
GAME OF THE NIGHT
Grangeville 49, Timberlake 48 (OT)
The Bulldogs (12-5) trailed Timberlake (15-3) 45-42 with just 0.9 seconds to play in the fourth period when Addisyn Vanderwall was fouled on a shot attempt. Vanderwall made the first free throw to cut the gap to 45-43. With less than a second remaining, Vanderwall intentionally missed her second free throw. Caryss Barger rebounded the miss and scored as time expired to tie the game at 45-45 and send the game into overtime. Then, in the extra period, Timberlake led 48-47 with 3.5 seconds to play, when Barger was fouled on a three-point attempt. Barger sank two-of-three free throws to push Grangeville ahead 49-48, the winning margin.
PRIME-TIME PERFORMER
