Team Preview:

Written by: Brandon McIntosh

The Deary Mustangs, led by second year coach Gordon Heath, will be looking to take their guard oriented team and compete within the 1A D2 Whitepine League.

The Mustangs are being picked in the preseason top two. Led by Heath, the Mustangs will be well prepared each and every game that they play in. The Mustang players-five upperclassmen-will be ready to climb the standings after becoming more comfortable in the second year of the system.

Heath will be leaning heavily on his upperclassmen-seniors Seth Winter, Taylor Dollar, and Westin Codr and juniors Jalen Kirk and Tanner Anderson-to continue moving forward. Last year, in Heath’s first season, the Mustangs struggled in close games. Heath is looking for more confidence and poise from his squad, which is part of the growth process to not only pull out close games, but to compete with every team, big or small, this season.

The second season under Coach Heath looks to be even more promising. Deary will be doing battle for the title against close rival, the Kendrick Tigers. The Mustangs should be making a push for a State berth this season.
